IFLR recommends LMR in Capital Markets, Banking and Mergers and Acquisitions.

IFLR (International Finance Law Review) has recommended LMR in its 2010 edition of the IFLR 1000 – The Guide to the World’s Leading Financial Law Firms.

LMR was recommended in all three practice areas analysed in the guide with regard to Finland: Capital Markets, Banking and Mergers and Acquisitions.

IFLR 1000 is the international legal market’s leading guide to the top law firms advising on corporate finance. It is said in the guide that it lists “only financial and corporate law firms at the top of their profession”. The guide is published by Legal Media Group, the legal publishing arm of Euromoney Institutional Investor, one of the world's leading financial publishers.

Timo Ruikka has been appointed Senior Counselor of LMR Attorneys Ltd.

We are pleased to announce that Timo Ruikka has joined our firm as Senior Counselor as of 31 August 2009. Mr Ruikka specializes in contracts for large transactions and projects, technology and IPR law as well as business and policy issues related to digital media.

Timo Ruikka joins the firm from Nokia Corporation where he has held a number of legal and senior management positions during the past 21 years. Ruikka’s experience covers most areas of business law and transactions and he has served for 28 years in three major industries (paper industry, metals and engineering, and electronics). During his 21-year career in senior positions at Nokia, he has gained a keen understanding of business management and global technology industries in addition to his role as a lawyer. Before joining LMR Timo Ruikka worked as a Strategy Advisor at Nokia’s corporate IPR department.

Prior to Nokia, Ruikka served as in-house counsel at Outokumpu Ltd and at The Finnish Paper Mills’ Association – FINNPAP.

Daniela Renlund has been appointed a lawyer on 1 July 2009. Ms Renlund specializes in dispute resolution, creditor’s rights and labour law and also in corporate and contract law. She has been a legal trainee at LMR since 2007.

THE LEGAL 500 RANKED LMR IN THE FIRST CATEGORY IN BANKING AND FINANCE & EU AND COMPETITION – LMR highly ranked also e.g. in Corporate and M&A, Maritime and Transport and Real Estate and Construction

THE LEGAL 500, a leading international publication of recommended law firms, has in its 2009 edition again given high rankings to LMR in most legal practice areas. For example, LMR has been ranked in the highest category in Banking and Finance and EU and Competition.

In addition, LMR was very highly ranked (2nd category) in its other principal practice areas, such as Corporate and M&A, Maritime and Transport and Real Estate and Construction.

Furthermore, LMR was highly ranked (3rd category) among the recommended law firms in Capital Markets, Dispute Resolution and TMT and IP.

In total LMR was recommended in eight practice areas (out of nine which The Legal 500 evaluated in Finland), and always ranked in one of the first three categories of recommended law firms.

Attorney-at-law, LL.M., Salla Mäntykangas has been appointed a lawyer on 9 March 2009. Ms Mäntykangas specializes in EU and national competition law, EU law, and corporate and contract law. Before joining LMR, Ms Mäntykangas worked as an attorney-at-law at Merilampi Attorneys-at-Law.

LMR HIGHLY RANKED IN CHAMBERS GLOBAL – The World’s Leading Lawyers for Business 2009

Chambers & Partners, a highly respected London-based publisher of guides to the world's top lawyers, has in its 2009 edition of Chambers Global – The World's Leading Lawyers for Business, ranked LMR as one of the leading Finnish law firms in the dispute resolution. Only two areas of law were analysed in the 2009 guide with regard to Finland.

Chambers Global has also ranked LMR partners Raimo Seppälä and Keijo Räikkönen among the leading dispute resolution lawyers in Finland. Chambers Global says e.g. that LMR’s clients praise the “responsive and highly service-minded lawyers” and note practice head Raimo Seppälä’s “strong commitment to his cases.”

GLOBAL COMPETITION REVIEW, one of the world’s leading competition law publications, has in its 2009 publication, GCR 100 – A guide to the world's leading competition law and economics practices, ranked LMR among the 100 leading competition law practices in the world. This is already the fifth year for LMR to be included in this list.
