IFLR recommends LMR in Capital Markets, Banking and Mergers and Acquisitions
IFLR (International Finance Law Review) has recommended LMR in its 2009 edition of the IFLR 1000 – The Guide to the World’s Leading Financial Law Firms.
LMR was recommended in all three practice areas analysed in the guide with regard to Finland: Capital Markets, Banking and Mergers and Acquisitions.
IFLR 1000 is the international legal market’s leading guide to the top law firms advising on corporate finance. It is said in the guide that it lists “only financial and corporate law firms at the top of their profession”. The guide is published by Legal Media Group, the legal publishing arm of Euromoney Institutional Investor, one of the world's leading financial publishers.

Juhani Siira has been appointed a Senior Associate
Attorney-at-law, LL.M., eMBA Juhani Siira has been appointed a Senior Associate on 1 June 2008. Siira specializes in mergers and acquisitions, and distribution, franchising and licensing transactions. Before joining LMR Siira has worked as an attorney-at-law (Sorainen Law Offices) in Lithuania for the last seven years.

LMR HIGHLY RANKED IN CHAMBERS EUROPE – Europe’s Leading Lawyers for Business 2008. LMR also included in the Euro Top 100 Survey.
Chambers & Partners, a highly respected London-based publisher of guides to the world's top lawyers, has in its 2008 edition of Chambers Europe – Europe’s Leading Lawyers for Business ranked LMR as a leading firm in Banking & Finance,Competition/European Law and Real Estate.
In addition, LMR partners Jukka Luostarinen and Keijo Räikkönen are ranked as leading individuals in Competition/European Law , and Kimmo Mettälä in Banking & Finance. Senior Associate Ilkka Liljeroos is ranked as up and coming individual in Real Estate.
LMR was also included in Chambers & Partners’ Euro Top 100 Survey. Only three other Finnish law firms were included in this Survey.

THE LEGAL 500 RANKED LMR IN THE FIRST CATEGORY IN BANKING AND FINANCE & EU AND COMPETITION – LMR highly ranked also e.g. in Corporate and M&A, Maritime and Transport and Real Estate and Construction
THE LEGAL 500, a leading international publication of recommended law firms, has in its 2008 edition again given high rankings to LMR in most legal practice areas. For example, LMR has been ranked in the highest category in Banking and Finance and EU and Competition.
In addition, LMR was very highly ranked (2nd category) in its other principal practice areas, such as Corporate and M&A, Maritime and Transport and Real Estate and Construction. Furthermore, LMR was highly ranked (third category) among the recommended law firms in Capital Markets, Dispute Resolution and TMT and IP.
In total LMR was recommended in eight practice areas (out of nine which The Legal 500 evaluated in Finland), and always ranked in one of the first three categories of recommended law firms.
The evaluations by The Legal 500 are based primarily on the comments received from our clients and competitors.

LMR receives AmCham Finland Member of the Year Award
LMR was honored to receive the AmCham Finland Member of the Year (2007-2008) Award at the Annual Meeting Dinner Banquet of AmCham Finland on March 12, 2008. LMR participates in the activities of AmCham (American Chamber of Commerce in Finland) through, among other things, the Committee for Corporate Social Responsibility, chaired by LMR’s Kimmo Mettälä. Formerly, Paul Herring of LMR has been a member of the Board of Directors of AmCham.

Ville Kulju has been appointed a lawyer
Ville Kulju has been appointed a lawyer on 25 February 2008. Mr Kulju obtained his Master’s degree in law from Helsinki University in February 2008. He has been a trainee at LMR since 2006.

Antti Niemi promoted to partnership
Antti Niemi has been promoted to partnership. Niemi specializes in finance and banking, mergers and acquisitions and dispute resolutions. He joined the firm in 1999 and has several years experience in domestic and cross-border financing transactions and dispute proceedings. Before joining LMR, Niemi worked in Nordea Bank Finland Plc. Niemi obtained his LL.M., University of Helsinki, in 1996.

Jerry Hultin has joined LMR
Jerry Hultin has joined LMR on 28 January 2008. Mr Hultin obtained his Master’s degree in law from Helsinki University at the end of 2007.
